Democrat Stimulus: The Heroes Act is About Fundamental Transformation
The 3 trillion dollar stimulus is just as much about voting as it is about anything else. Never let a crisis go to waste. That’s been the mantra of House Democrats during this pandemic. Last week House Democrats introduced and voted on the largest stimulus bill ever in the history of the United States. The bill was DOA in the Senate; it was roundly rejected by Republicans and branded a Democrat wish list. The bill offered a picture of Democrat priorities going into the 2020 election season and beyond.
What does this mean for Oklahoma?
Before we go into what this could mean for voting in Oklahoma, lets first look at this bill and the most egregious aspects of it.
Believe me when I tell you it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.
The multi-Trillion package is jam-packed with democrat goodies like tax cuts for wealthy blue state residents, a $900 billion dollar bailout for the states, forbearance for homeowners and renters, student loan forgiveness and $1 million dollars to fight COVID 19 disinformation.
The cherry on top mandatory early voting and mandatory no excuse mail-in ballots for every state and a bailout for DC Lobbyist.
This is a bill that only a swamp creature could love.
In this bill, there are over 70 appropriations in excess of a billion dollars. This is just a flavor of the mixed bag that is the Heroes Act.
Heres a full list of what this legislation funds.
$755 million for the government for Washington, DC. The bill would also allow the D.C. government to participate in the Federal Reserve’s Municipal Liquidity (MLF) to support additional lending to the city.
$1 million for the National Science Foundation to study the spread of coronavirus-related “disinformation.”
$10 million for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) as well as $10 million fo the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Eliminates limitations on the federal deduction for the state and local taxes (SALT). Republicans limited this deduction through the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The SALT deduction primarily benefits wealthy, largely Democrat states.
Grants additional aid for State and local government bailouts. The bill contains $500 billion in funding for state government relief and $375 billion in aid to local governments. Senate Republicans such as Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) have contended this will particularly aid fiscally irresponsible blue states such as California, New York, and Illinois to the detriment of more fiscally responsible states such as Texas and Florida.
$25 million for migrant and seasonal farmworkers, including emergency support services through the Department of Labor.
$1.7 billion for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority Serving Institutions, $20 million for Howard University, $11 million for Gallaudet University, $11 million for the National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
$15 million to maintain operations, rental assistance supportive services, and other actions to mitigate the impact on low-income people with HIV/AIDS through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Create a two month special enrollment period for Obamacare. The bill also extends full premium subsidies to allow workers to maintain their health insurance coverage through COBRA.
Allows Attorney General William Barr to make grants to states to create state-run hate crime reporting hotlines.
Relief for up to $10,000 of up-front debt relief for all Department of Education loan borrowers.
Authorizes up to $50 million in Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “environmental justice” grants to investigate or address the disproportionate impact of coronavirus in environmental communities.
$75 billion for housing assistance.
Mandatory early voting for every state and mandatory mail-in ballots for every state. Nate Madden, a press secretary for the House Oversight Committee Republicans, said it would be a “nightmare scenario for voter fraud.”
Allows wealthy people who make money from dividends and royalties to claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is designed for lower-income Americans.
This bill would allow Illegal Immigrants to receive money from the federal government. It amends the previous stimulus package passed by congress to make illegal immigrants eligible to receive back pay. This alone would amount to over 16 billion in direct stimulus going to people in this country illegally. The bill would not only incentivize illegal immigration due to these direct payments it would release those currently in detention for coming into the country illegally.
The most egregious portion of this bill is that it incentivizes the medical industry to replace American medical staff with foreign medical workers. As our hospitals continue to furlough medical staff, this bill would speed up the processing of visas and green cards for medical professionals abroad to come to take American jobs. Under this law, workers in the medical field would be forced to compete with a wave of foreign workers from other countries.
Like everything else during this pandemic, congressional Democrats have only sought to play political games. This bill has very little to do with COVID 19 and only seeks to feed red meat to the parties’ left-wing base.
A Politico Peace described this perfectly saying.
“Privately, several House Democrats concede their latest bill feels like little more than an effort to appease the most liberal members of the caucus, many of whom were chafed that their most important priorities were minimized or ignored entirely in previous coronavirus negotiations.”
The dangerous part of this bill are the provisions having to do with voting. The bill would all but ensure ballot harvesting would become the norm in every state. Louie Gohmert spoke to this issue saying. So what is ballot harvesting?
Heres what our friends at PragerU had to say about it.
Oklahoma & Voting
Democrat groups hope to reshape voting in states like Oklahoma. This is happening in 2 ways. The first is to loosen restrictions to voting by expanding mail-in voting The second is to change who draws the districts in our state.
Left-wing groups funded by out of state actors have been tied up in the courts and are trying to get a state question put on the ballot State Question 810 says.
“This proposed amendment to the Oklahoma Constitution is intended to prevent partisan gerrymandering. It creates an independent redistricting commission and vests the power to redistrict the state’s House, Senatorial, and federal Congressional districts in the Commission (rather than the Legislature). The Commission is composed of three members from each of three groups: the state’s largest political party, its second-largest party, and those unaffiliated with either party. A panel of retired judges designated by the Chief Justice would select pools of applicants from each group, then choose by lot three Commissioners from each.”
If passed, this would take the power of redistricting out of the hands of elected officials who are accountable to voters and put it in the hands of a selected panel of experts.
The second way these groups are attempting to change voting in the state of Oklahoma is mail-in balloting. At the moment, you can vote by mail as long as you have an approved excuse, and also, the ballot has to be notarized. The League of Women Voters challenged the notary requirement of this law on the grounds it would be dangerous due to Covid-19 even though you could have it notarized online. The Oklahoma Supreme court wasn’t persuaded and struck down this law.
This had the possibility of opening up the state’s elections to voter fraud like never before. Thankfully the Legislature was able to pass a new law that required a notary unless COVID 19 was at pandemic levels. Once again, the left was easily thwarted, but as I said earlier, they aren’t letting this crisis go to waste.
Who Are The Groups Pushing This?
At the nationwide level groups like National Democratic Redistricting Committee, a group created by former Attorney General Eric Holder that takes a “4 part strategy” of Litigation, Mobilization, Reform, and Elections.
The group’s website says.
During the last redistricting process in 2011, Republicans had trifecta control in 19 states, which gave them complete power over the drawing of 213 congressional districts. The NDRC is committed to changing that and making sure Democrats have a seat at the table in the 2021 redistricting process.
Eric Holder and these groups have been active, and they have money to throw around to smaller groups for litigation and ballot measures allot like what we’ve seen in Oklahoma.
The local groups Pushing this are the Oklahoma branch of the League Of Women Voters, People Not Politicians, Let’s Fix This. LWV doesn’t particularly hide their political leanings, but groups like Let’s Fix This and People over Politicians portray themselves as nonpartisans not interested in the left-right paradigm. But if you look just beneath the surface, the political leaning is obvious.
What Can You Do?
If you live in rural areas in Oklahoma, it is important that you complete your census forms. I know we favor our privacy, but the census is not only constitutional but supremely important when it comes to so many things in our state and counties. We need to be counted, and the census is one way we can help give rural and red states a bigger voice in not only Washington but at the Oklahoma capital. The process of completing this form can be done online through a cellular device, and it can be done by mail.
Voting is fundamental to our republic, and it’s important that we keep it above board. These efforts by the left to fundamentally subvert the way we vote has one aim to complete fundamental transformation in this country. We can and must do our part to stem the tide of this any way we can.
